From the US to Denmark. Testimonial on Relocare’s family relocation

Our family moved from United States to Copenhagen in February 2012.

We got in touch with Else sometime during Fall 2011 as we were starting to look for housing as well as for a school and daycare for our two young children. Else presented us with multiple options for schools and had knowledge and insight about special services provided by different kommunes (communities) for non-Danish speaking children.

Else arranged us visits to the best international schools in Copenhagen as well as some local public schools. Without Else’s expertise we would have had no way of knowing that certain communes provide transitional classes for non-Danish speaking children. With Else’s help we were able to assess the difference of putting our children to an international school vs a Danish school, and understand the impact of our decision all the way to the university level. Once we had made a decision regarding the school and daycare, Else contacted the correct authorities and arranged so that our children could start daycare and school immediately upon our arrival.

Our family had also specific housing needs. Else helped us to identify available rental properties, arranged all visits, and took us to see these properties. Once we had decided on the house, Else provided us her expertise with the contract, house inspection as well as interaction with the landlord. Thanks to Else, our house rental turned out to be a smooth and easy process for us. Without Else’s expertise we would not have known how to detect potential serious problems with rental properties, and we would not have understood the importance of performing a proper move-in inspection and report.

Else also assisted us with various practical matters like getting registered in the Danish social security system (which we were able to do the next morning after our arrival as Else had informed us about the necessary documentation before) and obtaining a bank account.

Whatever our needs and questions were, Else returned our emails and phone calls immediately.

Overall, with Else’s help, we were able to settle down quickly and easily. We recommend Else’s services very warmly to anyone moving to Denmark, and would be happy to discuss her services with you personally.

I wanted to pass on my gratitude for the effort and help that Tianyang gave to our family with our move from the US to Stockholm. We knew that finding the right housing in Stockholm was imperative to us being comfortable and settled as quickly as possible. Tianyang spent time with us understanding our housing needs including budget, proximity to shops/nature/schools etc. as well as size. This ensured Tianyang to get a good grasp on what we needed leading to her quickly finding a shortlist of three properties. As we were in the US we were not able to see the rental properties physically so Tianyang set up virtual meetings to take us around the properties. Once we decided our top pick she worked efficiently and quickly to secure the rental and paperwork within a few days. We arrived in Stockholm on New Years Eve and Tianyang met us at our rental to give us keys and show us around the property. Doing this on New Years Eve really demonstrates how Tianyang will go the extra mile for her Clients.

I graduated from the UK and moved to Denmark with my husband looking for job for almost one year. I sent out several CVs and applications but few recruiters responded to me. I didn’t know what the problem was with my application, until my husband introduced me to Relocare. After conversations with Else Christensen, she provided a range of tailored services to meet my demands and requests.

Else introduce me to the Danish culture at first, and provided a practical culture course and recommended social clubs and networks to me. I was lucky enough to be assisted by Else and her team at Relocare when relocating to Denmark from India in January this year. If you are planning to move to Denmark, I highly recommend Relocare’s services. There are a lot of formalities (bank account, CPR number etc) for which Relocare smooths the way and makes it much easier to do. Especially with regards to opening a bank account in a pain-free and expedient manner, getting set-up with NemID etc – Relocare’s services are very useful as they essentially provide the introduction to the bank which makes things much faster. Most of these formalities were accomplished for me without me personally having to visit any office (except the Kommune office once). The housing market in Copenhagen is tricky (to say the least) and there are lots of lop-sided restrictive contracts that are not tenant friendly. Else helped me find an apartment that was not listed on the popular sites, whetted the contract and helped me get settled in. The big bonus is that she is very personable, approachable and a great person to get to know early in your stay in Denmark. Highly recommend!

Relocare fik virkelige sat livet i Danmark i perspektiv for vores nye medarbejder. Ofte vil en ny, udenlandsk medarbejder være meget fokuseret på en bestemt løn, fordi det vedkommende kender til Danmark, er et højt skatteniveau og høje leveomkostninger. Relocare satte sig grundigt ind i medarbejderens situation og ønsker for derefter at give et fuldstændigt overblik over, hvad det koster at leve det liv, han ønsker i Danmark. Det giver et mere komplet grundlag at forhandle den samlede ansættelsespakke og resulterer i en mere tilfreds og oplyst medarbejder, der ikke bliver overrasket over eksempelvis en høj husleje, men som også kender fordelene i Danmark, som fx de mange fritidstilbud eller gratis biblioteker og hospitaler. Tilgangen viser tydeligt, at Relocares team har en stærk forståelse af den udenlandske medarbejders situation og samtidig kan tilfredsstille arbejdsgiverens ønsker.

Det har været en klar fordel at have en ekstern part til at stå for indstationeringen. Ikke kun fordi Relocares medarbejdere ved meget om kulturelle forhold og de administrative processer, som en udlænding skal igennem for at kunne bo og arbejde i Danmark. Men også fordi en tredje part lettere kan spørge ind til de mere private ting, som kan gøre hele forskellen for, om medarbejderen føler sig godt tilpas i Danmark. Det kan være alt fra at snakke om familieforhold til skat. Sådan en behovsafklaring er det ikke sikkert, at en chef får noget godt ud af at blande sig i. Desuden kom Relocare med en solid viden om kultur og relocation, som vores egen HR ikke har haft mulighed for at opbygge. Det giver os en stærk rygdækning at vide, at tingene er gjort på den rigtige måde, af folk der er vant til at håndtere sådan en proces. Dermed skal vores HR afdeling ikke til at sætte sig ind i helt nye områder, fordi de skal kunne svare på stort og småt. Set i det lys, er der nok mange, specielt mindre, virksomheder, der kunne nyde godt af at trække på en ekstern partner, når de indstationerer udlændinge. Når jeg sammenligner med de gange, hvor vi ikke har brugt relocation-services, har det helt sikkert været en meget bedre oplevelse for både virksomheden og medarbejderen, at Relocare har været tilknyttet.

Et administrativt system, der ellers kan synes trægt, fik Relocare til at føles smidigt og hurtigt. CPR-nummer, bankkonto, bil og alt muligt andet skal bare være på plads når den ny medarbejder kommer til landet. Så kan vores nye medarbejder hurtigst muligt fokusere på jobbet. Vi sparede en masse tid. Desuden kan vores medarbejder henvende sig til Relocare efterfølgende, hvis der nu skulle være spørgsmål. Det gør simpelthen hverdagen lettere for alle på arbejdspladsen.

It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Relocare. DSV provided us the services of Relocare as our Relocation partner to assist us in our relocation from New Delhi, India to Copenhagen, Denmark. Else Christensen the MD of the company helped us a lot right from the visa filing of me and my wife to job search for my wife till date.

They helped us right away while we were still in India with their prompt phone calls with good advises and solutions to our doubts. We got the apartment well before we arrived in Denmark without any struggle. We were able to convert the extension of the apartment for 2 years which was initially for 3 months with the help of Relocare. The apartment is situated very near to the centre of Copenhagen and easily accessible.
