Mentor/Mentee Programs when relocating expats

Create Knowledge Sharing and True Internationalization. Your Employees are Hidden Treasures

Mentor/Mentee programs are often based on volunteers in the host company and are widely based on integrating into leisure activities and the private life. Often they do not give the best result. Relocare works with a professional angle and facilitate Mentor/Mentee programs with a high outcome of knowledge sharing.

Based on a thorough interview, we strategically analyze the resources of the particular candidate and your department, and we help to facilitate knowledge and retention in your organization. The new international employee is often recruited to a specific, often narrow job. Yet the reality is that the employee has a much wider and deeper knowledge and experience than often recognized, and companies might highly benefit from actively working to explore network in cross sector departments. Hence Relocare’s Mentor/Mentee programs are widely set up on:

  • Who do the candidate need to know? 
  • Who would it be beneficial for the candidate to know?
  • Who could benefit from knowing the candidate based on cultural background?
  • What do the candidate need to learn within the first 3 months?
  • How can he/she do that? Etc.

 

Instead of exclusively focusing on attracting an international employee due to lack of manpower and competences, Relocare can help you explore and for instance enter into new export markets through your new international employees.

One of the tools we use is the Intercultural Profile Assessment when choosing Mentors and developing the Mentor/Mentee relations and teams.

The Intercultural Profile Assessment offered by Relocare in collaboration with leading American researchers (Dr. Bennett and Dr. Hammer) is among the most validated and internationally recognized screenings of its kind for the measurement of intercultural empathy.

The entire job market constantly grows more diverse. And it is continually expanding. It is a challenge we all have to meet and adjust to, in order to be efficient and competitive in the future.

Our Intercultural Profile Assessment and development plans consist of four steps: Questionnaire, Analysis, Feedback and development plans – aimed at individuals as well as teams.

The program will strengthen the collaboration between employees of different knowledge backgrounds and will help the individual’s network to grow both professionally and socially. This will further increase the retention rate of your employees as the intercultural understanding increases.

Even though the satisfaction of the family plays a significant role in the retention of an employee and the performance at work, it is in many cultures not beneficial to mix work and family life. Focus will be on the professional life and the mentee will receive cultural advice and guidance from his or her mentor.
