Relocare has a very personal approach for people moving to Denmark. In the first meeting the staff of Relocare created a profile of what I was looking for and what my wishes where. They know the market very well and they gave me a big variety of options to choose from. Also my own suggestions where taking into account. Our family moved from United States to Copenhagen in February 2012. We got in touch with Else sometime during Fall 2011 as we were starting to look for housing as well as for a school and daycare for our two young children. Else presented us with multiple options for schools and had knowledge and insight about special services provided by different kommunes (communities) for non-Danish speaking children. Else arranged us visits to the best international schools in Copenhagen as well as some local public schools. Without Else’s expertise we would have had no way of knowing that certain communes provide transitional classes for non-Danish speaking children. With Else’s help we were able to assess the difference of putting our children to an international school vs a Danish school, and understand the impact of our decision all the way to the university level. Once we had made a decision regarding the school and daycare, Else contacted the correct authorities and arranged so that our children could start daycare and school immediately upon our arrival. Our family had also specific housing needs. Else helped us to identify available rental properties, arranged all visits, and took us to see these properties. Once we had decided on the house, Else provided us her expertise with the contract, house inspection as well as interaction with the landlord. Thanks to Else, our house rental turned out to be a smooth and easy process for us. Without Else’s expertise we would not have known how to detect potential serious problems with rental properties, and we would not have understood the importance of performing a proper move-in inspection and report. Else also assisted us with various practical matters like getting registered in the Danish social security system (which we were able to do the next morning after our arrival as Else had informed us about the necessary documentation before) and obtaining a bank account. I wanted to pass on my gratitude for the effort and help that Tianyang gave to our family with our move from the US to Stockholm. I was lucky enough to be assisted by Else and her team at Relocare when relocating to Denmark from India in January this year. If you are planning to move to Denmark, I highly recommend Relocare’s services. There are a lot of formalities (bank account, CPR number etc) for which Relocare smooths the way and makes it much easier to do. Especially with regards to opening a bank account in a pain-free and expedient manner, getting set-up with NemID etc – Relocare’s services are very useful as they essentially provide the introduction to the bank which makes things much faster. Most of these formalities were accomplished for me without me personally having to visit any office (except the Kommune office once). The housing market in Copenhagen is tricky (to say the least) and there are lots of lop-sided restrictive contracts that are not tenant friendly. Else helped me find an apartment that was not listed on the popular sites, whetted the contract and helped me get settled in. The big bonus is that she is very personable, approachable and a great person to get to know early in your stay in Denmark. Highly recommend!
