Relocare Mentor Programs

Relocare has been connected to mentor programs since 2020 with the aim to attract and retain international talent in Denmark and Sweden. We work closely together with Copenhagen Business House, Science City Lyngby and Danish Industry. The programs are financed by both the Danish government and the EU.

Since 2025 we are partnering with Sweden in the EU Interreg Cross-Border Talent Bridge program.

Why should I become a mentor ?

As a mentor you will first and foremost help a young, talented person establish their career and gain footage on the labour market.
Mentoring will give you the possibility to develop as a leader, broaden your perspective, build meaningful relationships, and make a lasting difference in another person’s career. Mentors are welcome from all professions and focuses.

How can mentoring help me on a professional and personal level ?
8 reasons why you should consider becoming a mentor

1. Make a tangible difference
You help a talented professional unlock opportunities they might otherwise never access. Your knowledge of the labour market can have a life-changing
impact.

2. Develop your leadership skills
Mentoring strengthens your coaching, communication, active listening, and feedback skills—all qualities that are valuable in your own career.

3. Gain fresh perspectives
Your mentee brings a different cultural, educational, and professional background. Their experiences can challenge your assumptions and inspire new ways of thinking.

4. Expand your professional network
Through mentoring programmes, you connect with other mentors, organisations, and professionals who share an interest in talent development and inclusion.

5. Increase your cultural competence
Working closely with someone from another country gives you deeper insight into cultural differences, communication styles, and international talent—an increasingly valuable skill in today’s workplace.

6. Experience the satisfaction of giving back
Many professionals have benefited from advice, encouragement, or opportunities during their own careers. Mentoring is a meaningful way to pay that forward.

7. Become a better professional
Explaining workplace culture, recruitment practices, and career strategies forces you to reflect on your own experience. You often learn just as much as you teach.

8. Help companies and institutions make better use of international talent
The labour market needs skilled professionals. By helping international talent establish themselves, you contribute to stronger companies, a more diverse workforce, and a more competitive society.

  • Build and strengthen your professional network
  • Share your professionalism and get inspired by new insights
  • Get an international vibe in your everyday life
  • Help another human being and make an impact on someone’s life
  • Add value to your business and talent pipeline
  • Upgrade your CV by adding mentorship skills to it

As a mentor in the Greater Copenhagen Career program (GCCP), you will make a difference that really matters and your help can be invaluable.

GCCP offers assistance to young international graduate students in Denmark. They are looking for a relevant job after their graduation, and Denmark really needs the talented workforce to remain in Denmark.

The program starts for them, shortly before or after their graduation.

When you are young and have moved to a new country, you have left your close people behind. The GCCP connects carefully selected students who have applied for the program with professional mentors with huge work experience from Denmark. By being a mentor, you can become the difference in a young persons life that alters their professional and personal career, just by opening up about your culture, your work experience, your part and your relevant network.

Perhaps you are in HR and are looking for the same talented work force which is in the program. Perhaps you miss the international vibe and want to connect with other mentors while making a difference that really matters.

We have had all kind of graduates in the program in Science, Math, Engineering, IT, Biotech, Pharma, but also graduates within urban design, aerospace, psychology, MBA etc.

The program connects mentors and you become a part of a network that connects to assist young professionals, but at the same time you become a part of a mentor network that cross profession, nationality, age, gender etc. You will get to hear about new companies at the Kick-off events which is fun and at the graduation event you will get a diploma for your time and efforts.

For those Mentors who wish to become a Danish citizen the diploma adds a very positive mark to the volunteering experience needed to become a permanent resident in Denmark.

Cross Bridge Talent Program

The Cross Bridge Talent Program is designed for experienced international professionals with established careers who are now living in Sweden or Denmark and seeking employment opportunities. The mentees are highly motivated individuals who have relocated to Denmark to advance their careers—often alongside a spouse who has already secured a position in the country.

The program connects carefully selected international talents with experienced professionals based in Denmark. As a mentor, you have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on someone’s professional and personal journey by sharing your knowledge of Danish work culture, your career experience, and your professional network.

These mentorships often lead to long-lasting and valuable relationships.

You may be an HR professional looking to connect with highly skilled international talent already participating in the program. Or perhaps you miss an international environment and would enjoy engaging with other mentors while contributing to something truly meaningful.

The program attracts professionals from a wide range of fields, including law, accounting, HR, science, engineering, IT, biotech, and pharma.

As a mentor, you become part of a diverse and dynamic network that spans professions, nationalities, ages, and backgrounds—all working together to support international professionals. You will also have the opportunity to learn about new companies during the kick-off events, and at the graduation event, you will receive a diploma in recognition of your contribution.

For mentors who are pursuing Danish citizenship, this diploma can serve as valuable documentation of volunteer experience, which may positively support applications for permanent residency.

We recommend meeting with your mentee a minimum of 4-6 times during a timeframe of 6 months. The first meeting is about getting to know each other and aligning and setting goals. The remaining three meetings are based on the goals defined during the first meeting. Mentor and mentee together determine the frequency with the mentee yourself. For example, 1x a month.

The venue where meetings take place is something you decide together with your mentee. We recommend meeting at least once at your office (and perhaps showing your company to the mentee). You are also welcome to meet in a bar, the library or at your home. Whatever works best for you both. Discuss the location during your first meeting and decide what you like best together.

Yes, that’s possible. We do recommend that the first meeting is arranged face to face. This lays an important foundation for the rest of the conversations. If you consider to meet online you could alternate online with face-to-face. Discuss together what works best for the both of you.

Mentor meetings usually take place in English as most mentees are not sufficient yet in Danish.

We appreciate your contribution in dedicating your time to help and retain an international talent for Denmark. At the end of each program, you will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Municipality of Copenhagen. You can add this to your CV and LinkedIn profile. Mentorship is voluntary and there is no compensation.

The Greater Copenhagen Career Program (GCCP)

The Greater Copenhagen Career Program (GCCP) is a free mentoring, networking and career-development initiative for highly educated international students and emerging professionals who want to begin their careers in Denmark.

Developed in collaboration with the City of Copenhagen and the European Union, the program connects promising international talent with experienced professionals from Denmark’s business, technology and industry sectors. Together, mentors and mentees turn academic knowledge and previous experience into a focused strategy for entering the Danish job market.

Who are the mentees in GCCP ?

GCCP mentees are ambitious international students and professionals with strong academic backgrounds.

They bring practical knowledge from their fields, an international outlook, and a strong desire to establish themselves professionally in Denmark.

  • All mentees are highly educated, holding a master’s degree, MBA, or PhD.
  • Many have experience from student jobs or previous professional roles.
  • They have a practical understanding of their field of study.
  • They are eager to network and further their professional development.
  • Mentees represent 31 different nationalities.
  • The program receives 250–300 applications per round, from which 80 mentees are selected.
  • Mentees attend five workshops designed to sharpen their interview skills and focus their job search.
  • Mentors and mentees are matched and meet four to six times during the program. The mentees drive the process.
  • More than 1,900 students have completed the program since it began in 2012.
  • Two-thirds of the students who complete the program are offered a relevant job in Denmark.

How can you help as a mentor ?

Starting a career in a new country involves more than writing a strong application. International candidates must also learn how Danish workplaces operate, how professional relationships are built and how to present their experience in a way that resonates with local employers.

As a mentor, you can make that transition easier.

By sharing your experience, asking thoughtful questions and offering an insider’s perspective, you can help a mentee:

  • Understand Danish workplace culture and employer expectations
  • Develop a realistic and targeted job-search strategy
  • Strengthen their CV, applications and LinkedIn profile
  • Prepare for interviews and professional conversations
  • Build confidence in networking
  • Identify relevant industries, employers and career paths
  • Turn their goals into practical next steps

You are not expected to find a job for your mentee or have all the answers. Your value lies in the knowledge, perspective and professional experience you already possess.

What does mentoring involve?

Mentors are matched with a participant and typically meet with their mentee four to six times during the program. The mentee is responsible for driving the relationship, arranging meetings and identifying the topics on which they need guidance.

The format is flexible, allowing each mentor pair to agree on a rhythm and focus that works for them. Conversations might cover career direction, applications, interview preparation, networking, workplace culture or progress since the previous meeting.

Alongside the mentoring relationship, mentees attend five career workshops designed to sharpen their interview skills, strengthen their professional profiles and help them approach their job search strategically. They may also participate in job-matching and networking activities organised by the program and its partners.

What can you gain as a mentor ?

Since the program began in 2012, more than 1,600 international students have taken part. According to the program’s results, two-thirds of participants who complete it are offered a relevant job in Denmark.

For mentors, the experience is equally valuable. It is an opportunity to:

  • Support the next generation of international professionals
  • Gain fresh perspectives from another culture or discipline
  • Strengthen leadership and coaching skills
  • Expand your own professional network
  • Contribute to a more diverse business community
  • Help Denmark retain highly qualified international talent

A few focused conversations can provide the clarity, encouragement and local insight that help a talented person take their next professional step.

The Cross-Border Talent Bridge Program
‘WE ARE RIGHT NOW WELCOMING NEW MENTORS’

The Cross-Border Talent Bridge (CTB) Program connects experienced professionals with highly qualified international talent seeking to build a career and professional network in the Öresund Region of Copenhagen and Malmö.

The program’s purpose is clear: to help the Öresund Region retain international expertise while giving talented professionals the insight, connections and confidence they need to navigate the employment market in the region.

Who are the mentees ?

CTB mentees are ambitious international professionals with specialist knowledge and track records across fields such as life sciences, technology, pharmaceuticals, business development, marketing and communications.

Each application round attracts more than 90 candidates, from whom approximately 15–20 mentees are selected. Applicants represent around 32 countries, and 85% hold a master’s degree or another advanced qualification, including a PhD, doctorate, MBA or law degree.

What does the mentor role involve ?

Mentors are expected to:

  • Participate in approximately four to six meetings during the program, including at least two in-person meetings.
  • Respond to the mentee’s initiatives and help establish a productive meeting rhythm.
  • Discuss the mentee’s goals, priorities and timeline.
  • Share constructive feedback on CVs, applications and professional positioning.
  • Offer insight into networking, workplace culture and career development.
  • Help the mentee reflect on progress, maintain momentum and identify practical next steps.

The mentee is responsible for taking initiative, arranging meetings and preparing the agenda. Your role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions and share relevant guidance—not to find a job on the mentee’s behalf.

A structured program with room for flexibility

The next program round runs from August 2026 until March 2027, please see the timeline below.
During this period, mentees participate in workshops approximately every three to four weeks, covering areas such as:

  • CV development and professional profiles
  • Danish work culture
  • Interview preparation
  • Personal branding
  • Networking and relationship-building
  • Active job applications

Support throughout the mentorship

Mentors are supported by the CTB program team throughout the process. At the beginning of the program, each partnership receives an alignment and expectations overview to help establish goals, responsibilities and ways of working. If a mentee secures a job position during the program, the partnership can continue, adapt to the new circumstances or agree on a revised professional relationship.

By becoming a CTB mentor, you can turn your professional experience into meaningful support for someone building a new career. A few focused conversations can provide clarity, open networks and create lasting value for the mentor, the mentee and the wider professional community.
