Relocare Mentor Programs

Relocare has been connected to mentor programs since 2020 with the aim to attract and retain international talent in Denmark and Sweden. We work closely together with Copenhagen Business House, Science City Lyngby and Danish Industry. The programs are financed by both the Danish government and the EU.

Since 2025 we are partnering with Sweden in the EU Interreg Cross-Border Talent Bridge program.

Why become a mentor ?

As a mentor, you help a talented, international professional gain a foothold in the labour market and build a career in Denmark or Sweden.

At the same time, mentoring gives you an opportunity to grow as a leader, broaden your perspective, expand your professional network and build a meaningful relationship. Your knowledge and experience can make a lasting difference in another person’s professional journey.

We welcome mentors from all professions, industries and areas of expertise.

How can mentoring help me on a professional and personal level ?
8 reasons why you should consider becoming a mentor

1. Make a tangible difference
You can help a talented professional gain access to opportunities they might not otherwise encounter. Your knowledge of the labour market, workplace culture and professional networks can have a lasting—and sometimes life-changing—impact.

2. Develop your leadership skills
Mentoring strengthens your ability to coach, communicate, listen actively and give constructive feedback. These are valuable leadership skills that can also benefit you in your own career.

3. Gain fresh perspectives
Your mentee will bring a different cultural, educational and professional background. Their experiences may challenge your assumptions, inspire new ideas and give you fresh insights into your own profession.

4. Build and strengthen your professional network
Through the mentoring program, you can connect with other mentors, organisations and professionals who share an interest in talent development, inclusion and the international labour market.

5. Strengthen your cultural competence
Working closely with someone from another country gives you greater insight into cultural differences, communication styles and the perspectives of international professionals. These skills are increasingly valuable in today’s workplace and can bring a more international dimension to your everyday professional life.

6. Experience the satisfaction of giving back
Many professionals have benefited from guidance, encouragement or opportunities during their own careers. Mentoring allows you to pass on your knowledge and experience while making a meaningful difference in another person’s life.

7. Grow as a professional
Explaining workplace culture, recruitment practices and career strategies encourages you to reflect on your own experience and expertise. Mentoring is a two-way learning process, and you may find that you learn just as much as you share. It can also add valuable mentoring and leadership experience to your CV.

8. Contribute to stronger organisations and a more diverse labour market
Employers need skilled professionals. By helping international talent establish themselves in the labour market, you contribute to stronger organisations, broader talent pipelines, a more diverse workforce and a more competitive society.

For further information, please see the FAQ list below.

We recommend meeting with your mentee a minimum of 4-6 times during a timeframe of 6 months. The first meeting is about getting to know each other and aligning and setting goals. The remaining three meetings are based on the goals defined during the first meeting. Mentor and mentee together determine the frequency with the mentee yourself. For example, 1x a month.

The venue where meetings take place is something you decide together with your mentee. We recommend meeting at least once at your office (and perhaps showing your company to the mentee). You are also welcome to meet in a bar, the library or at your home. Whatever works best for you both. Discuss the location during your first meeting and decide what you like best together.

Yes, that’s possible. We do recommend that the first meeting is arranged face to face. This lays an important foundation for the rest of the conversations. If you consider to meet online you could alternate online with face-to-face. Discuss together what works best for the both of you.

Mentor meetings usually take place in English as most mentees are not sufficient yet in Danish.

We appreciate your contribution in dedicating your time to help and retain an international talent for Denmark. At the end of each program, you will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Municipality of Copenhagen. You can add this to your CV and LinkedIn profile. Mentorship is voluntary and there is no compensation.

The Greater Copenhagen Career Program (GCCP)

The Greater Copenhagen Career Program (GCCP) is a free mentoring, networking and career-development program for highly educated international students and early-career professionals who want to build a career in Denmark.

Developed in collaboration with the City of Copenhagen and the European Union, GCCP connects promising international talent with experienced professionals from Danish companies and organisations. With guidance from their mentors, participants learn how to turn their academic qualifications and previous experience into a focused strategy for entering the Danish job market.

Who are the GCCP mentees ?

GCCP mentees are ambitious international students and professionals with strong academic backgrounds. They bring specialist knowledge, international perspectives and a clear desire to establish themselves professionally in Denmark.

  • All mentees hold a master’s degree, an MBA or a PhD.
  • Many have experience from student jobs or previous professional roles.
  • They have practical knowledge of their field and are eager to develop professionally.
  • The mentees represent 31 different nationalities.
  • The programme receives 250–300 applications per round, and 80 mentees are selected.
  • Mentees attend five workshops designed to strengthen their professional profiles, sharpen their interview skills and bring greater focus to their job search.
  • Mentors and mentees meet four to six times during the programme. The mentee takes responsibility for driving the process.
  • More than 1,900 international students and professionals have completed the programme since it began in 2012.
  • Two-thirds of those who complete the programme are offered a relevant job in Denmark.

How can you help as a mentor ?

Starting a career in a new country involves much more than writing a strong application. International candidates also need to understand how Danish workplaces operate, how professional relationships are built and how to present their experience in a way that resonates with local employers.

As a mentor, you can help make that transition easier.

By sharing your experience, asking thoughtful questions and offering an insider’s perspective, you can help your mentee to:

  • understand Danish workplace culture and employer expectations;
  • develop a realistic and targeted job-search strategy;
  • strengthen their CV, applications and LinkedIn profile;
  • prepare for interviews and other professional conversations;
  • become more confident about networking;
  • identify relevant industries, employers and career paths; and
  • turn their goals into practical next steps.

What does mentoring involve?

You will be matched with one mentee and will normally meet four to six times during the programme.

The mentee is responsible for taking the initiative, arranging meetings and identifying the topics on which guidance is needed. However, you and your mentee decide together how to organise the meetings and what to focus on.

Your conversations might cover:

  • career direction and priorities;
  • CVs and job applications;
  • interview preparation;
  • networking and professional relationships;
  • Danish workplace culture; or
  • progress and next steps

Alongside the mentoring relationship, mentees attend five career workshops. These help them strengthen their professional profiles, prepare for interviews and approach their job search more strategically. Mentees may also take part in networking and job-matching activities organised by GCCP and its partners.

You are not expected to find a job for your mentee or to have all the answers. Your value lies in the knowledge, perspective and professional experience you already possess.

What can you gain from being a mentor in GCCP ?

Mentoring is a two-way relationship. While your guidance can make an important difference to your mentee, the experience can also contribute to your own professional and personal development.

As a mentor, you have the opportunity to:

  • support the next generation of international professionals;
  • gain new perspectives from another culture or field;
  • develop your leadership, communication and coaching skills;
  • expand your professional network;
  • contribute to a more diverse business community; and
  • help Denmark attract and retain highly qualified international talent

A few focused conversations can provide the clarity, encouragement and knowledge of the local labour market that a talented person needs in order to take their next professional step.

The Cross-Border Talent Bridge Program (CTB)
‘WE ARE CURRENTLY WELCOMING NEW MENTORS’

The Cross-Border Talent Bridge Program (CTB) connects experienced professionals with highly qualified, international talent seeking to build a career and professional network in the Öresund Region, including Copenhagen and Malmö.

The program has a clear purpose: to help the region attract and retain international expertise while giving talented professionals the knowledge, connections and confidence they need to navigate the regional labour market.

Who are the CTB mentees ?

CTB mentees are ambitious, international professionals with specialist knowledge and proven experience in areas such as:

  • life sciences
  • technology
  • pharmaceuticals
  • business development
  • marketing
  • communications

Each application round attracts more than 90 candidates, from whom approximately 15–20 mentees are selected.

Applicants represent around 32 countries, and 85% hold a master’s degree or another advanced qualification, such as a PhD, doctorate, MBA or law degree.

What does the mentor role involve ?

As a mentor, you are expected to:

  • participate in approximately four to six meetings during the program, including at least two in-person meetings
  • respond to your mentee’s initiatives and help establish a productive meeting rhythm
  • discuss your mentee’s goals, priorities and timeline
  • provide constructive feedback on CVs, applications and professional positioning
  • share insight into networking, workplace culture and career development
  • help your mentee reflect on their progress, maintain momentum and identify practical next steps

The mentee is responsible for taking the initiative, arranging meetings and preparing an agenda. Your role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions and share relevant knowledge and guidance. You are not expected to find a job on your mentee’s behalf.

A structured program with room for flexibility

The next program round runs from August 2026 to March 2027. You can see the full timeline below.

During this period, mentees attend workshops approximately every three to four weeks. The workshops cover topics such as:

  • CV development and professional profiles
  • Danish workplace culture
  • interview preparation
  • personal branding
  • networking and relationship-building
  • active job searching and applications

The mentoring relationship itself remains flexible. You and your mentee agree on how to organise your meetings and which topics to prioritise.

Support throughout the mentorship

The CTB program team supports mentors throughout the process.

At the beginning of the program, each mentor–mentee partnership receives an overview of roles, expectations and ways of working. This provides a clear foundation for agreeing on goals, responsibilities and the practical framework for the mentorship.

If your mentee secures a job during the program, the mentorship does not necessarily have to end. You can continue as before, adapt the focus to the new circumstances or agree on a different professional relationship.

By becoming a CTB mentor, you can turn your professional experience into meaningful support for someone establishing a new career in the region. A few focused conversations can provide clarity, open doors to new networks and create lasting value for the mentor, the mentee and the wider professional community.
