Successful relocation is not simply about getting an employee to a new country. It is about making the relocation work – for the employee, the family and the employer.
Relocare provides Destination Services across Denmark and Sweden, supporting international employees and their families throughout the relocation process – from immigration, tax and national registration to housing, schools, settling-in and integration.
We combine local presence with specialist knowledge within international mobility. This gives HR one point of contact while providing employees and their families with the practical and personal support needed to establish a successful life in their new country.
Select the services required for the employee, family and assignment.
From immigration and tax to housing, registrations and settling-in support, each service can be tailored to the specific relocation.
Our in-house immigration specialists in Denmark and Sweden manage work and residence permit applications, EU registrations and local authority processes.
Since 2007, we’ve managed everything from simple cases to complex relocations involving families and special situations. Through trusted global partners, we ensure consistent delivery worldwide.
Relocare is your single point of contact — coordinating the entire process from start to finish. One global setup – full transparency.
Transparent model. No hidden fees. Just full control.
International relocation can create tax obligations from the first working day.
Relocare advises employers and employees on the tax implications of international assignments, relocations and cross-border work.
We assess tax residence, individual income tax obligations, employer reporting and withholding requirements, tax registrations and the interaction between tax and social security.
In Denmark and Sweden, our own tax specialists provide local tax advisory and compliance support. For other countries, we coordinate through our international specialist network.
For employees working across Denmark and Sweden, we also advise on Øresund and cross-border tax matters.
One assessment. Clear responsibilities. Coordinated compliance.

Get to know the destination before the move
A successful relocation starts with understanding what everyday life will actually look like.
Relocare provides tailored orientation visits based on the employee’s and family’s individual needs – from neighbourhoods, housing and schools to transportation, healthcare, shopping and everyday practicalities.
For candidates considering an international move, the visit can also support the decision-making process and help align expectations before accepting the assignment or position.
The objective is simple: fewer uncertainties, realistic expectations and a better start in the new location.
Lets build this tour together in order to capute your needs.
Moving to another country is more than a practical transition. Understanding the local culture, workplace and everyday communication can make a significant difference to both integration and long-term retention.
Relocare provides intercultural training and coaching tailored to the employee, accompanying partner, family or team.
Our programmes help participants understand cultural differences, communication styles and expectations – and navigate situations that may otherwise create misunderstanding or frustration.
Training can be provided before arrival, during the relocation or as follow-up support after settling in.
The objective is to support successful integration – at work, at home and in the new country.
Please see our section: Advisory & Training for more info.
A temporary home from the start
Temporary accommodation provides employees and families with a comfortable base while permanent housing is being secured.
Relocare identifies suitable solutions based on location, assignment duration, family needs and budget – from serviced apartments to hotels and other short-term accommodation.
We coordinate the process with the employee and relevant suppliers, helping ensure a smooth arrival and transition into the new location.
A good start matters – especially during the first weeks of a relocation.
From arrival to everyday life
Relocating employees need more than a work or residence permit. Local registrations and practical requirements must also be in place for everyday life to function.
Relocare coordinates the required settling-in process, which may include national registration, social security and healthcare registration, digital ID, banking and other country-specific requirements.
Requirements differ between countries and depend on the employee’s individual circumstances. Our local specialists ensure that the relevant steps are identified, coordinated and completed in the correct order.
One coordinated process – from arrival to being fully established locally.
Supporting the family supports successful relocation
For employees relocating with children, finding the right school or daycare solution is an important part of a successful transition.
Relocare supports families in understanding the available options and identifying schools or daycare facilities that match the family’s needs, location and preferences.
We coordinate visits, provide local guidance and support the family throughout the application and enrolment process.
When the family settles well, the employee is better positioned to settle and succeed too.
Access to the housing market – not just the relocation market
Finding the right home requires access to the right market.
Relocare works across the wider housing market and has direct access to landlords, pension funds, real estate developers and other housing providers. This allows us to identify suitable accommodation beyond the traditional expat and relocation housing channels.
We manage the process from housing search and accompanied viewings to lease negotiation, contract review and move-in.
Our combination of local market access, relocation expertise and understanding of tenancy conditions helps employers balance employee needs, housing budgets and risk.
The objective is not simply to find a home – but to secure the right home on the right terms.
Protecting the tenancy from day one
A successful move-in is not only about receiving the keys and getting settled. It is also about establishing clear documentation of the condition of the property from the beginning.
Relocare carries out a comprehensive move-in inspection and prepares a detailed photographic report documenting the condition of the property – from existing scratches, marks and wear to walls, floors, fixtures and other relevant details. Depending on the property, the documentation may include hundreds of photographs.
The completed move-in report is made available to the employee and can be shared with the landlord, creating transparency and a clear record from the start of the tenancy.
Where defects or outstanding issues are identified, we follow up with the landlord or property manager to ensure that these are addressed and properly documented.
We also coordinate the practical move-in process, including utilities such as electricity, water and heating, and help the employee understand the property, building facilities and relevant tenancy obligations.
Thorough documentation at move-in can significantly reduce the risk of disputes and unnecessary deductions from the deposit when the tenancy ends.
Successful relocation also depends on understanding everyday life outside the workplace.
Our local area orientation helps employees and families become familiar with their new neighbourhood and the practical services around them – from transportation and shopping to healthcare, leisure activities and other everyday facilities.
The orientation is tailored to the employee’s location, family situation and individual needs, providing relevant local knowledge rather than a standard sightseeing tour.
The faster everyday life starts working, the easier it becomes to settle into the new location.
We also have local orientation as an attraction package. See more here
Supporting the partner – and the success of the assignment
A successful international assignment depends on more than the employee. The accompanying spouse or partner and their ability to establish a meaningful professional and personal life in the new country can be equally important.
Relocare’s spouse and partner support starts with the individual. Career background, ambitions, local opportunities and the right to work differ significantly from person to person and between countries. Our support is therefore tailored to what the individual partner actually needs.
In Denmark, our extended spouse programmes can include individual career counselling, CV and application support, guidance on the Danish labour market, entrepreneurship and self-employment, professional positioning and – where relevant – introductions through our local business network.
We do not promise to find “any job”. Instead, we help spouses understand where their experience and competencies fit in the local labour market and develop a realistic strategy for building their professional life in the new country.
For international assignments where employment opportunities are limited or a spouse does not work during the assignment, the focus may be different. Cultural support, family coaching and ongoing follow-up can help the family establish a sustainable life abroad while maintaining focus on the longer-term professional and personal transition.
And support should not end when the assignment ends.
Relocare can work with the employee, partner and employer to prepare for repatriation from the beginning of the assignment. Through cultural support, family coaching and structured follow-up, we help families prepare not only to settle successfully abroad – but also to return home successfully.
Managing the tenancy throughout the assignment
For longer-term relocations, managing the accommodation does not end when the employee receives the keys.
Relocare can provide ongoing tenancy and expense management throughout the rental period, including coordination of rent, deposits, utilities and other agreed housing-related expenses.
We maintain an overview of the tenancy, support communication with landlords and property managers and assist when practical or contractual issues arise during the rental period.
This provides the employer with one point of coordination while helping ensure that payments, documentation and tenancy obligations are managed correctly throughout the assignment.
From move-in to departure, the tenancy remains actively managed.
Relocation does not end when an employee leaves the host country. A well-managed departure requires both practical close-down and, where relevant, preparation for the employee and family’s return home.
Relocare coordinates the practical departure process, including deregistration with relevant authorities, closing or transferring utilities and subscriptions, notifying relevant institutions and supporting other country-specific requirements.
We also manage the housing close-out, including preparation for handover, move-out inspection and dialogue with the landlord. The documentation established at move-in provides an important basis for assessing the condition of the property and protecting against unjustified claims against the deposit.
For international assignments, repatriation may begin much earlier. Relocare can support employers, employees and families in preparing for the return through structured repatriation planning, cultural support, family coaching and follow-up during the assignment.
The objective is not simply to close an assignment – but to bring the employee and family successfully through the entire international journey.
Combine immigration, tax, registration and relocation services in one structured programme.
Our packages bring the essential elements of an international relocation together and can be tailored to the employee, family, destination and assignment.

Because successful relocation depends on the whole family
A successful international relocation is rarely about the employee alone. When a family relocates, the wellbeing, opportunities and sense of belonging of each family member can directly influence whether the relocation succeeds long term.
Our Family 360° Support can be added to any relocation programme and tailored to the individual family.
Support may include:
For international relocations outside Denmark and Sweden, we combine our own family and intercultural expertise with our trusted local partner network.
The objective is not simply to relocate a family. It is to create the conditions for the family to thrive – supporting successful settlement and long-term employee retention.
Closing the relocation properly – and preparing for what comes next
A successful relocation does not end when the employee leaves the country. The practical, financial and regulatory obligations established during the relocation must be closed correctly, while the employee and family may also need support preparing for their next destination or return home.
Relocare coordinates the departure process and ensures that responsibilities are identified, managed and followed through.
Departure support may include:
Repatriation and reintegration support can be added for employees and families returning home after an international assignment.
Returning home can require just as much adjustment as moving abroad. Through intercultural coaching, family support and individual guidance, we help employees and families prepare for the transition and establish their new everyday life.
For employers, we can support the repatriation process and help establish a plan for reintegration, so that international experience and knowledge are retained within the organisation.
The objective is to close the assignment properly – while supporting the employee, the family and the employer through the complete relocation lifecycle.
Our local teams provide complete destination support in both countries – from immigration and national registration to housing, settling-in, tax and social security. Explore our country-specific relocation services and practical guidance:
International knowledge workers represent a significant investment for companies. Successful relocation protects that investment by helping employees and their families establish a sustainable life in their new country – not simply complete the move.
When an international employee leaves within the first year, the impact extends far beyond recruitment costs. Companies may lose valuable knowledge, time invested in onboarding and training, and the opportunity to build a strong international team.
In many cases, the greatest challenges are not found in the workplace. They arise in everyday life: finding the right home, understanding unfamiliar systems, building a social network, supporting a spouse or partner, helping children settle and adapting to a new culture.
This is why relocation should be viewed as part of a company’s talent and retention strategy.
From relocation to integration
A successful relocation does not end when the employee receives a residence permit, CPR number or the keys to a new home. Long-term success depends on whether the employee – and often the entire family – can establish a functioning everyday life and develop a sense of belonging.
Professional relocation support reduces uncertainty, helps solve practical challenges before they become problems and allows the employee to focus on the role they were recruited to perform.
For employers, this means better conditions for retention, faster integration and greater protection of the investment made in international recruitment.
Relocation as a competitive advantage
Competition for specialised international talent continues to grow. The companies that succeed will not only be those capable of attracting international employees, but those capable of making them stay.
A well-designed relocation programme demonstrates that the employer understands the realities of an international move and is prepared to support both the professional and personal transition.
At the same time, international mobility increasingly involves immigration, tax, social security and employer compliance obligations. Bringing these disciplines together with practical relocation support creates a more coherent process for both the employer and the employee.
At Relocare, relocation is therefore not simply about moving people. It is about creating the conditions for international employees and their families to settle, perform and stay – while protecting the employer’s investment in global talent.
Whether you need support for one employee, a family relocation or a wider international mobility programme, our team is ready to help.
